Installing Drivers for Compaq Presario V3614AU (Windows XP)
I was installing the drivers for my colleague’s new Compaq laptop and hell yes, it is painful and wasted me precious hours to figure it out. Google does the help but I wonder if my article can crawl to the top people might spend less time installing driver while more time on drinking with hot chicks. And you all have guessed right, my ultimate goal is to attract the site traffic, then the percentage of hot chicks visiting my site will be increasing and I can have a night out with them as well.
Cut short the story, follow these step-by-step guides and you will be able to finish installing your Compaq Presario V3614AU drivers for Windows XP in speedy way.
Note : You need Windows XP SP2 to make it work.
Chipset and LAN/Ethernet/Network Card Driver
1. Download nforce chipset from here and install it.
Display Driver
1. Download nVidia 32bit Forceware GeForce Go 15655 from here and install it.
Audio Driver
1. Download all three audio drivers file from here.
2. Install UAA 1.00B first.
3. Install Conexant HD Audio Driver ver 3.38.0.50 A, then install Conexant HD Audio Driver ver 3.30.0.00 A, after the installation it will prompt that the media is not found. Don’t bother about it and click OK.
4. Go to Device Manager, you will see a question mark on the audio item, right click it and select “Update driver…”
5. Select “Use install from a list or specific location (advanced)”.
6. Select “Don’t search I will choose the driver to install.”
7. Click “Have Disk”, and go to C:\swsetup\SP34386, click on wis30B5a.inf and it will install the Audio Driver successfully.
Card Reader, Touch Pad, Quick Launch, Broadcom Wireless
1. Go back to HP website under Windows Vista Driver to install. The drivers actually works for both Windows XP & Vista. Get the driver file from here.
Update : I just got a Driver CD for all Compaq Presario V36xx Drivers (Windows XP). Here is the download link :
Download Compaq Presario V36xx (AMD) WIndows XP Drivers
Download Compaq Presario V36xx (Intel) WIndows XP Drivers
Note : Some of the V3614AU owners say that they cannot burn DVD using their laptop, if you have this machine would you please test it out on whether you can burn the DVD using the laptop and comment it down?
Update : You can use third party burner software to burn the DVD. It works.
Update : Due to high responses for the driver files, I have to upload the files to some free-upload-site or else I will exceed my monthly bandwidth limit.

one more things, how about the bluetooth, i didnt find any driver compatible
November 18th, 2007 at 12:06 pm
Hi Clark,
I am not sure about the drivers for Windows Vista as I installed Windows XP into that machine, you will need to check it with HP support, sorry about it.
Hi BLACK,
You can try either one of these links below to install the Bluetooth Driver on Windows XP :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32883.exe
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34496.exe
And let me know which installer is workable for your V3614AU Windows XP machine.
November 18th, 2007 at 4:55 pm

November 18th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
Hi Clark,
Let me figure it up when I’ve got my colleague laptop tomorrow. Will update you again. Cheers.
November 19th, 2007 at 3:00 pm
Hi Clark,
I have checked my colleague laptop, we don’t need any CDROM driver for it and it can burn the CD initially, I guess what you need to do now is to check with HP support.
November 20th, 2007 at 4:34 pm
Huh…this laptop is so bad to look for drivers, I also waste a lot of this with a lot ‘maki’ to hp. Its so suck to use Vista, however, after a lots of time with google, lastly i can install my LAN. I bought from shor they gave me V3119AU but some of them can use like Blutut, and Audio but LAN is so hard. We can share info with Kelvin or email me @ unbrutal@gmail.com for help. Regards.
November 20th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
how to use dial-up connection, is it we need to use modem, because i cant connect by using dial-up, or may be there are driver need to installed??? hard with hp dude!
November 21st, 2007 at 9:12 am
Hi BLACK,
Yes you will need to install the modem driver :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36501-37000/sp36610.exe
After the installation if you still can’t connect to internet I guess it would be the configuration or setting issue.
November 21st, 2007 at 4:43 pm
thanks for the modem driver, i,m test it yet but the installation succesful, just problems with bluetooth that the file so big, when i,m download it the files are not totally downloaded, so i still keep trying, thanks alot dude

Hi Jason,
The laptop is belonged to my colleague’s friend and it’s kind of hard to ask him to test it out. I will try to help, meanwhile I guess we will need the comments from other laptop owner to check whether it can burn the DVD.

Hello guy, If you still cant find the diver for V3614AU, find this complete Driver in CD For RM15 only (exclude pos) at www.lelong.com.my. I am using V3614AU with XP, VISTA is Bill Gate Damn Thing For me. You can use Vista with this lappy but, i prefer XP due to performance.

December 4th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
Hi coolbudweiser,
Sorry couldn’t help much, the laptop is not with me now. What if you try to burn the DVD using some burner software? Will it work?
December 5th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
thanks for replying Kelvin
i tried installing nero. successfully installed but when i tried to start, it crashed.
i noticed in the device manager, it keeps categorizing the cd drive under the CDROM drives category while my other notebook actually categorizes it as DVD/CDROM drives.
it is actually behaving like CDRW rather than DVDRW. i can burn (using windows) on CDR but not DVDR and the drive can read both format.
currently i can see Pioneer DVR-K17 and search thru the net but could not find any updates.
will try another burner software to see if it works. thanks for the suggestion
December 5th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
hei, what do u know … i got 1 of those open source burners and voila, it works.
but i still think there is somethg wrong with the setup if i can’t drag and drop files into the DVD drive and burn it fr explorer.
thanks kelvin for ur suggestion
December 5th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Hi coolbudweiser,
Cool that you finally found out this. Could you share with us the web link of that open source burner? I believe it would help others here. Cheers.
December 5th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Hi coolbudweiser,
I have the same problem. i cant burn DVD in may laptop. you said that you found a software that can work properly. can i ask for the link where i can download the installer?
thanks a lot in advance!
December 6th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
just google “free burner software” and a long list appears
i believe any free burner will do. but the one i tried is at http://vidmar.net/weblog/archive/2007/03/25/Free-CD-and-DVD-burning-software.aspx
i downloaded InfraRecorder.
i also tried others and no problem in burning. so choose the software you like best
in the end i settle for roxio which i happened to have a copy. it is licensed however.
i still wonder why ahead nero crashes when i tried to use it
December 7th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Hi coolbudweiser,
thanks for the link. Although after installing InfraRecorder i still encountered problem burning a DVD. =(
You mentioned that your DVD drive is a Pioneer DVR-K17. Mine is a Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P. I dont why we have defferent DVD drive models even though we have the same V3614AU laptop?
Any suggestions?
December 8th, 2007 at 2:27 am

December 8th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

I am using Linksys WAG2000 router modem.
Hope you can help.
December 8th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
kelvin can you give me the graphic driver for v3614au..
pls dude..
December 8th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Hi Eric,
Could it be your Linksys router configuration problem. Sorry I can’t help to configure the router unless I am at your place : ) Google or the router manual will help you.
Hi Scarface,
Does the link above work for you? http://www.sendspace.com/file/589d2d If it doesn’t work please email to me and I will send you the download link, I have to do so because I have almost exceeded my hosting bandwidth limit for this month.
December 9th, 2007 at 12:18 am
Hi,
Anyone can confirm if they also have a Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P (dvd drive) in their V3614au?
i still cant burn dvd… =(
December 9th, 2007 at 6:07 am
Hi Kelvin,
Thanks for your suggestion. After some try, I managed to get connected using cable but not the wireless part. I tried scanning around and notice other people’s wireless network but not mine. My older laptop seems to connect pretty easily without any issue, I was wondering which part of the configuration I need to look at to make it work?
Hope you can help, manual is not really helping.
eric
December 9th, 2007 at 9:33 am
Hi Eric,
When you said the new lappy is not able to scan your wireless router but your old lappy can connect to wireless connection, did you enable the broadcast of the wireless access ID?

Also, could anyone of u tell me whether the “Presario 36xx Intel” driver would work for my V3628TU series ? please please ?!?!??!!?!
Hope to hear from the reply as soon as possible.
Alternately, can reach me by this email:
weiqi0802@yahoo.com
Thanks very much ~!!!!!
December 9th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Hi Kelvin,
Yes it is enabled (under wireless setup page, Wireless SSID Broadcast is enabled)
I went through the manual again with a clearer mind today, in the lappy I added the SSID manually using WEP, but again it is not detecting the wireless signal from my side but I could see the neighbors. I test click on the neighbors and a prompt for the password appeared which is normal.
So now I reverted back to WPA-2 Personal and tried to set up over the lappy side as WPA-PSK, WPA also cannot.
What else can I do?
Thanks,
eric
December 10th, 2007 at 12:34 am
Hi scarface,
The driver files above only work for Windows XP, you can go to HP website to download your Vista drivers.
Hi Pua Wee Chyi,
I am not sure whether above drivers will work for your lappy model, but there is others said that it is working for other 36xx models, you could have a try to download it and install it. Please find out whether you’re using Intel or AMD chipset and download it accordingly.
Hi Eric,
If you can’t even detect your wireless network, it is not your encryption problem, it should be others. Try to reset the wireless router and disable the encryption to see whether you could detect the network using your lappy.
December 10th, 2007 at 3:27 am

Hi, everyone. I’ve recently bought the v3614au and for the money I think it’s an absolutely GREAT machine! Yes, it’s terrible if you buy it without an OS and the drivers but I got mine from the HP shop outside low yat where they gave me a great deal with a free upgrade. They also installed all the drivers and burnt the disc for me. Perhaps, if you go there with a disc or flash drive, they might be able to help you.
Anyone who says anything bad about this machine is an absolute techno moron. This is the BEST deal around right now. If you bought this laptop you made a good buy. Just get all the drivers now and save them somewhere safe. Peace.
December 13th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
I bought it on Oct, and i found that sometime the laptop is hang when i want to play some songs and thats no sound at all, after that i want it to restar then it will hang on the last scene of “Window Shutting Down…..” .. It means i have to press the “Power On” button to off the laptop..
Do you facing these problem?

Hi Kelvin,
I’m contemplating between getting the Acer 4520 or the HP V3614AU. I have all the required Windows XP drivers for the Acer. I’m currently downloading the Driver CD for the HP model from your website. Your friend’s laptop is running smoothly without any driver complications I presume?
Regards,
Clive
December 15th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I just bought the V3614AU. Brought my genuine Windows XP Professional along and asked if they would assist in installing the os for me. They not only installed it for me, they even copied all the required Windows XP drivers onto a CD for me. My unit is working perfectly fine. The offer was excellent as well. RM1,999.00 for the laptop bundled with a wirless optical mouse, a webcam, a cleaning kit as well as a Kingston 2GB thumb drive.
December 16th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Hi Clive,
In fact there are quite some users successfully installed the drivers into their V3614AU. Perhaps you could ask the seller to install the drivers for you as well when you purchase the laptop.
December 21st, 2007 at 1:46 pm
Thanks Kelvin, appreciate your help
Your file saved me a lot of time googling..
December 22nd, 2007 at 4:40 pm
Thanks kelvin.. ur the savior of souls.. ive just bought the v3614au one from lowyat yesterday.. the funny thing is.. the sold it 1999 with 512ram but when i mention them that my friend bought it with a 1gb ram same price, they willingly to upgrade them to 1gb ram for the same rm1999. it really confuse me alot. plus all my friend that bought this same machine also didnt got a driver cd. now i believe them.. i didnt get it either. what happen actually? anyway.. thanks to you again.
December 24th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
Hi
Bought this NB last week and came with a pirated XP sp2. Keep on having “blue screen” and then auto reboot. I have downloaded all the driver and after installed a fresh XP sp2, I noticed that i can’t install the bluetooth driver and keep on stating that the bluetooth device is not ready or not found. Previously I can use it but after reinstall fresh OS, i can’t work. I have installed HP Wireless Assistant and can see that wireless is up but bluetooth is not enable.
Any comments/help most welcome
December 31st, 2007 at 1:00 pm
mine, i bought at kuantan. rm2099 free upgrade to 1gb ram. 99 ringgit diff from kl. but its ok. if i went to kl the fuel and tolls compensate the price. huhu

Thanks again dude !
January 6th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Thank kelvin, after a week i search for driver for my compaq 3614au win xp.. I also had a problem to bun dvd in my laptop. I try to install nero burning but vista dont support and cannot open
January 6th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Thanks, Kelvin for the drivers download. I hope it works on my Compaq Presario v3617tu. I’m doing a compilation of drivers so in case I need to re-install XP, I won’t be groping in the dark.
I also have a Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P and I use a portable version of Nero. At first, I can’t burn any DVDs, only CDs. However, a last resort, I tried different brands of DVD-RWs and you know what? I think this type of DVD writer is picky when it comes to DVD discs. I think lowering the rate of speed of the burn also might help solve this issue.
I hope this is of help to those concerned. More power.
January 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Damn it! I can’t burn dvd as well…I m using Compaq Presario V3628TU, which have a dvd-rw of Slimtype DS8A1P…I was initially using Nero, then tried out CDBurnerXp and InfraBurner (I can’t remember the name exactly). None of them works for me T_T
January 8th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Hi Kwan. As in my previous post/reply, this kind of player is choosy when it comes to discs. Try out (test-burn) several brands for compatibility.
January 11th, 2008 at 11:02 am
i need help for a step-by-step guides on how to intall XP & drivers to compaq v3617 TU. please provide drivers site if available. thanks a lot.
January 15th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Hi everybody,
I got a acer 5220 and they have the same slimline a ds8a1p dvd crap in it. Could it be that windows is just using the wrong driver for our burners?
I tried nero and after 5 sec. it tells me: disc at once not possible or something like that.
I tried the following DVDs: Intenso 8,5 GB +R; Platinum 8,5 GB + R.
Let´s write down all our tried DVD types that are not working, so we don’t have to buy the same type without any success.
Let us find the right brand!!!
January 15th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
to be safe, use win xp pro. no fuss

January 23rd, 2008 at 12:04 am
I have an acer travelmate 4280 with the liteon ds8a1p and it is picky when it comes to dvds. I use TDK branded DVDs and they work fine.
Does anybody have a driver file for XP for this drive? I want to downgrade from Vista, but this XP driver seems unavailable from Acer.
January 23rd, 2008 at 12:36 pm
bro,
is the any differance if i were to put identical speed of rem in both fo the slot comparing it with non identical speed of rem. the dual channel effect, could some one explain this to me… coz the stock 512 rem is just to slow.
January 23rd, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Stephan, I think you won’t need any driver for your Liteon. XP has the necessary driver and will automatically install it for you when you downgrade from Vista. As for burning DVDs I use Imation.
January 24th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
my v3614au is very sucks..i installed all the driver but there something missing..the PCI devices..when i installed the directx 9.0 it still cannot run a game..somebody help me!!!!
January 24th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Juck,
thanks for your comment. I just finished setting up a dual boot system (Vista and XP), but XP doesn’t recognize that the liteon ds8a1p is a dvd burner. It has loaded a generic cd-rom driver. Reading DVDs is ok, but burning doesn’t work. Do you _need_ a third party tool for burning DVDs under XP or should it be possible with “on-board” XP tools?
Any input welcome.
Thanks, Stephan

May 11th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Hi Ginni & all,
…. Anyhow, since Kelvin Website helps a lot of people (including me), so I guess that it is my duty to actually help out those who needs !!
Tomorrow I will make a short documentation and then i will send the link to this website. The documentation basically will teach you all how you can actually “add” those hard disk driver (especially SATA hard disk driver) to your original windows Xp cd. BUT please note that you will need to have Win XP2 original copy before you can actually proceed with that
So please stay tuned as i need to make the documentation after my work ~! (by the way, I am from Malaysia)

Hi Wee Chyi,
